Journal Post #2

As my first semester at San Diego State goes on, my knowledge of Journalism only grows. I have learned things this year that I never knew existed in the profession of journalism.

I have known what I’ve wanted to do for a while now but this is my first full immersion into school. There is so much I didn’t know about, but am quickly learning and I have grown more excited for what is to come.

AP style of writing is so technical and leaves so much room for error. It’s very easy to forget if a certain word needs to be capitalized or not, or if youre supposed to write a number or place the numeral. Practice makes perfect and I am getting to the point with somethings where I am no longer having to reference the book.

Attributions have made me so excited because I come from a world of MLA where citations are constantly required and the citations need to be put in a certain way, which took tedious amounts of time. Now I can cite my source by saying “blah blah blah,” John Smith said.

I have very much enjoyed learning about journalism and the proper way to write for journalism. They are my favorite classes and don’t take the same motivation some of my GE’s do. I look forward to seeing what’s next and the end of the semester.
